The Hunter’s Creek Turkey Trot, a 5K Fun Run/Walk that kicks off Thanksgiving week returns for another year on Saturday, November 20. The route runs through the major neighborhoods and parks of Hunter’s Creek, and begins at Osprey Park at 8 a.m. This family-friendly event is a fundraiser for local recreation and charitable organizations, and can be a fun way to start the holiday festivities with friends, neighbors and family members.
A separate Kids Run begins at 9 a.m. and is designed for kids eight years of age and under. There is no entry fee for kids running the race.
The fee for Turkey Trot race participants is $20 per entrant if registered by November 18, and $25 on the day of the event. Participants who bring at least five non-perishable food items as a donation will receive $2 off their registration fee.
Each participant receives an official event t-shirt, snacks, water and is eligible to win prizes for completing the race. This year’s Turkey Trot is in its ninth year, and continues to be a popular event for local residents, their families and friends. All non-perishable food items collected at this event will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
The Hunter’s Creek community is also encouraging residents to donate non-perishable food items through December 13 at the Hunter’s Creek Town Hall. All food collected at this annual food drive helps needy families in Central Florida, and donations go directly to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
