Gotha, Florida is located in Orange County and is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan area. This small community of just 2 square miles is situated between the affluent town of Windermere and Ocoee. Founded by a German immigrant in 1885 and advertised to northerners as a warm place to live with exceptionally mild winters, it remained small in population. Some 115 years after its founding, the city of Gotha, named after a town in Germany dating back the Middle Ages, its population only grew to 731; but, now, Gotha’s population is over 1,900.

Gotha is located about 11 miles from downtown Orlando, approximately 27 miles from Orlando International Airport, around 12 miles from Walt Disney World, 8 miles from Universal Orlando, and about 14 miles from SeaWorld Orlando. Gotha real estate is very diverse, with prices ranging from mid to high $100’s up to more than $1.35 million — the median home price in this small community is $203,500. There are approximately 250 homes in the city of Gotha, many of which are single family properties.
Historically a citrus and cattle economy, today Gotha is now a lively town with plenty of entertainment and outdoor recreation. Gotha Park boasts highly positive visitor reviews and it’s located only 25 miles from the Atlantic Coast. Gotha is home to two lakes, Fischer Lake and Lake Olivia and there are two schools in the city: Gotha Middle School and Central Florida Preparatory School, a Montessori Pre-K3 through kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school.
The city of Gotha also boasts strong job growth, primarily driven by its tourist destinations, with its unemployment levels generally posting better gains than many other places in central Florida and generally better than the national average. The Florida Turnpike runs directly through the city, making travel in and out of the community a cinch.
