Part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area, the population is approximately 48,400 and the city is best known for its robust indoor foliage industry. Apopka is located about 35 miles northwest of the Orlando International Airport, nearly 18 miles northwest of downtown Orlando, approximately 23 miles from Walt Disney World, 29 miles from SeaWorld Orlando, and 24 miles from Universal Orlando. It’s also home to Lake Apopka, the third largest freshwater lake in the state of Florida.
